The Benefits of CBD
Cannabidiol, commonly referred to as CBD, is a naturally occurring compound found in cannabis plants with an array of mood-enhancing benefits—like easing anxiety and alleviating insomnia. Unlike tetrahydrocannabinol, also known as THC, CBD is non-psychoactive, which means these perks can be enjoyed without any mind-altering effects.
This unique characteristic makes CBD an appealing option for everyday consumption and a preferred alternative to certain pharmaceutical drugs. Whether you’re battling ongoing insomnia, a bout of anxiety, generalized bodily aches and pains, or are simply seeking a calm moment at the end of a busy day, the benefits of CBD—including pain relief and relaxation—are wide-ranging.

Read on to learn more about the benefits of CBD, and how our blends could boost your mood, mitigate stress, and offer all around enjoyment.
CBD vs. THC
Though they are often spoken about in related ways, CBD and THC vary greatly, and their most obvious difference can be seen in their sources. CBD is derived from hemp and THC is derived from marijuana. Both hemp and marijuana are types of cannabis plants, but as separate strains, they retain their own defining characteristics. For example, hemp contains only non-detectable, trace amounts of THC, while the levels of THC found in marijuana are markedly high.
In 2018, The Agricultural Act legalized the sale of hemp-derived CBD products across the United States with these differences between CBD and THC in mind. Learn more about it here: https://www.congress.gov/bill/115th-congress/house-bill/2
CBD Benefits & Your Health
The known benefits of CBD have been linked to a variety of ailments, spanning everyday experiences and more specific concerns. For example, CBD has been used to mitigate seizures and spasms, and is also believed to stimulate the growth of new brain cells. Research is currently ongoing surrounding CBD’s preventative qualities, but it has been suggested to contain anticancer properties, too.
In accordance with federal regulations, we’re unable to make any direct claims related to the health benefits of CBD consumption. For information on the latest findings, you can read more here. But in the meantime, we’d like to highlight the most common concerns CBD has been known to treat or improve—and give you all the information you need to find the right blend for you.
What Can Using CBD Benefit?
1. Physical Ailments: Bodily aches and pains, inflammation, and circulatory issues
2. Psychological Distress: Anxiety, depression, and stress
3. Sleep-Related Issues: Insomnia, falling asleep, and staying asleep
CBD for Pain Relief
Many studies have been conducted to assess the effectiveness of consuming CBD for pain relief. Research has shown that CBD could help reduce chronic and acute experiences of pain by impacting endocannabinoid activity, reducing inflammation, and interacting with certain neurotransmitters to mitigate aches. The endocannabinoid system—also known as ECS—is one of our body’s specialized systems which deals with the regulation of functions like pain and immune responses, including inflammation.
Several recent studies have shown a connection between a combination of CBD and THC and their treatment of pain related to multiple sclerosis and arthritis. In one such study, an oral spray called Sativex—which features a combination of CBD and THC—significantly improved the pain in patients suffering from rheumatoid arthritis, both during movement and at rest.
CBD has also been linked to improvements in heart health and circulation, including the ability to lower high blood pressure. In another recent study, a group of patients treated with CBD and a placebo experienced a reduction in their resting blood pressure with CBD. During that same study, patients also experienced a less significant increase in blood pressure while participating in stress tests after consuming CBD. Based on these findings, researchers have hypothesized that the stress and anxiety reducing properties of CBD could be a catalyst for lowering blood pressure.
Whether you’re experiencing chronic pain or are mending a single injury, CBD can accelerate recovery by alleviating stress placed on your body and mitigating your body’s own pain signals. CBD for Anxiety & Stress
Anxiety is a common mental health concern that can have devastating impacts on your overall well-being. It is so prevalent, in fact, the World Health Organization has ranked anxiety disorders sixth in a list of worldwide disabilities. But anxiety is most often treated with pharmaceutical drugs, which can include a number of unwanted side effects and make patients feel generally worse long term. As a result, many studies have occurred to evaluate the benefits of using CBD for anxiety and have uncovered promising results.
In recent studies, CBD has been proven to engage with the brain’s serotonin receptors, which regulate mood and social behavior. As CBD is non-psychoactive and free from the side effects associated with certain pharmaceutical drugs, this is a hopeful discovery in the treatment of anxiety and related mental health concerns.
In a study which took place in Brazil, patients received either an oral form of CBD or a placebo an hour and a half before partaking in a public speaking event to test the effectiveness of CBD for stress and anxiety. Researchers found that CBD was successful in reducing anxiety and calming patients during this test, underscoring CBD’s potential for alleviating both anxiety and stress.

Since quality sleep is essential to both our physical and mental well-being, the success seen with CBD for insomnia has been a promising discovery. Further research has also inferred that CBD can impact your sleep cycle and improve the symptoms of REM sleep behavior disorder (RBD)—a condition commonly associated with poor sleep and nightmares. The benefits of CBD are abundant, but the ways in which it can enhance your sleep could help lessen stress, anxiety, and other physical ailments, too.
